Disney CMO

March 5, 2008

Well, it is official but I am not. My official video submission did not make it to the “Top 10″ round for the Chief Magic Official contest put on by Disney Parks. On March 2nd, they opened the “Top 10″ voting at the Official Dream CMO site. I have watched the videos produced by the 10 remaining contestants and my official opinion is that their videos are much better than mine. I haven’t decided who to vote for yet. The presidential election is easy by comparison.

I was a little disappointed that I didn’t make it further in the process but in the end it was probably a good thing that I didn’t move on. I would have had to chew up precious vacation time to compete in the final round in May. And if I had won (by some miracle), I would have had to use almost all of my vacation time for this year and next just to perform the duties of CMO job.

Go check out the “Top 10″ contestants and vote. Unlike the presidential election, you can vote as many times you like for your favorite. If you can’t choose between two, vote for both of them.

Disney Park’s Chief Magic Official

February 12, 2008

A while back, the Disney Blog mentioned a contest that Disney was having to recruit a Chief Magic Official of the Disney Parks for their “Year of a Million Dreams (Part 2)” campaign. According to the rules of the contest as described on the official website, you had to submit a video no longer that one minute describing why you would be the perfect candidate for the position. Additionally, the video could contain no music and the only children allowed in the video had to be your own.

I decided to make a fool of myself and enter the contest. Below is the video that I submitted. The rules indicated that they would narrow the entries down to the “Top 20″ by Feb. 7. I have not been notified so I can assume that I didn’t make the cut. I figured I should put the video on YouTube. This way, I can make a fool of myself in front of a much larger audience. Enjoy!
