Snowshoeing Again!

On Sunday, we went snowshoeing again. It was the third time this winter for the whole family and the fourth time for Kristi and me. The first time this year was at the end of December. I talked about it here. The second time was in the middle of January. It was the weekend before the big warm up when we lost all of our snow. Of course all the snow came back, with a vengeance, but that’s another story. That time we went out to the Retzer Nature Center in Waukesha. The trails there were not as well marked as those at our first outing. We still had fun but didn’t go as far as we had hoped because of the trails.

Kristi and I went back to the Schlitz Audubon Nature Center on Presidents Day. It was cold and snowy and had rained the day before so some of the areas were a bit slushy. We had a good time out there together. It reminded me of the times that she and I would go hiking or snowshoeing in Michigan before A.J. was born.

Yesterday, we made a trip to Riveredge Nature Center in Newburg. It was a fun trip because it was warmer than it has been in a long while and it was nice to be out in the snow again. The trails were mostly unmarked and you had to follow the tracks of previous groups to find your way around. I think this will be a nice place to go hiking in the spring and summer. All in all, I am impressed that we have been able to get out on the snowshoes so many times this year.
