Day Four – HERSHEYPARK

We went to HERSHEYPARK on our final day before heading back to Wisconsin. It is an amusement park just outside of Hershey, PA, the sweetest place on earth. We got there just after 9am but the park doesn’t open until 10am. Luckily, Hershey’s Chocolate World opens at 9am. There, we rode through a tour on how they make chocolate that ended with two free samples of chocolate each. How great is that.

It rained on and off most of the day. A.J. and I rode several of the park roller coasters: the Comet, the Sooper Dooper Looper (twice), and the Trailblazer. A.J. enjoyed the Comet the most and I liked the Sooper Dooper Looper. Erin is not a coaster fan so we found many tamer rides for the whole family to enjoy, including Dry Gulch Railroad, Kissing Tower, Sunoco Classic Cars, and the Monorail. The ride that was the most fun for the entire family was Reese’s Xtreme Cup Challenge. The four of us had to shoot at various targets while riding in a rotating car and score points.

By mid-afternoon we returned to the van and retrieved our swimming suits and proceeded to the “Boardwalk” section of the park. That section is a waterpark. It began to rain steadily while we were there but we didn’t care because we were already getting wet. We spent a few more hours there going down innertube slides and playing in the East Coast Waterworks (a water-play structure). Right about the time we were about to leave, they cleared the area because of thunderstorms.

Tomorrow, we make the long trek home. It has been a fantastic vacation but all agree that it is time to go home.
