… On a Stick!!!

We went to the Wisconsin State Fair today and started a new family tradition. The Wisconsin State Fair boasts as being the state fair with the most food items on a stick. This article indicates that there are 32 different foods that can be eaten on a stick at the fair this year. We decided when we got to the fair that each of us had to eat some sort of food on a stick and it had to be different than what anyone else had.

Kristi started out with tradition and had a corndog. At the same vendor, we found deep fried cheddar cheese on a stick for Erin. Later in the day, A.J. made the most unusual choice (and the most delicious). He had a deep fried Snickers candy bar on a stick. Just before we left, I went with the frozen cheesecake dipped in melted chocolate on a stick. I can honestly say that we all enjoyed this new tradition and were happy with the choices we made. We were obviously disappointed that we could not find a jalapeño on a stick. It would have been funny to see one but none of us are adventurous to choose one anyway.

The rest of the state fair was enjoyable as well. Early on, we toured most of the animal barns. We saw the horses, cows, pigs, sheep, and bunnies. Erin really enjoyed the bunnies and the horses. Afterwards, A.J. went down the giant slide. A.J. and I both had a cream puff. We toured the DNR area like we always do. Both kids participated in Kandu’s Wild and Wacky Game Show at the Family Variety Stage. We ended our outing with a trip on the SkyGlider and a couple of games on the Midway. Another enjoyable Saturday outing.

I so want to go to the Fair this year! But alas– I’m afraid it’s just not going to happen. :( Still- reading about AJ enjoying a deep fried Snickers on a stick is almost as good as enjoying one myself.

By which I mean, of course, that it is TOTALLY NOT THE SAME THING and I am SO JEALOUS because that sounds SO FREAKIN’ GOOD!

    Woooooe is meeeee!!

I had a bite (or two) and it was goooood. A.J. said that by the time he was done it was almost too much sweet stuff. But the hot, melty snickers goodness was worth the sugar headache.
