Halloween 2008

AJ and Erin on Halloween

Trick-Or-Treating in our town happens on Halloween from 5pm to 8pm. Many of the neighboring cities only permit that to happen in the early afternoon on the Sunday prior to Halloween. I think our way is more fun. Most kids are safe because many parents walk along with them. This year, A.J. and Erin decided to go with costumes that were more traditional Halloween. A.J. opted for the zombie and Erin went as a witch. Kristi helped them get their costumes ready over the last couple of weeks because I have been working so many late nights. I, however, broke out the theatre make-up last night and worked on their faces. I think they turned out rather well.

Dolly and Drama Mask Pumpkins

On the 30th, we finally got around to carving our pumpkins. Erin decided that her pumpkin should look like the face of one of the cloth dolls she owns. A.J. decided we needed the Greek drama masks. Unfortunately, it would have been too difficult to put two faces on his pumpkin so we compromised. The left half of the face is comedy and the right half is tragedy, similar to the logo for WCT.

Halloween seemed much tamer this year than in years past. Kristi said that we only had 3 or 4 groups of kids come to our door. Boy, do we have the left-over candy. As we walked around, there seems to be fewer kids on the street than in previous years. Also, it was very disappointing that only about one in three houses were even participating. I saw more dark houses than ever before. Of course, it doesn’t help that over half of those had “For Sale” signs in the yard.

I hope your Halloween was a happy one.

We had the same problem. We leave near the end of our subdivision so we tend to get less trick-or-treaters in the first place, but we went down from around 20 kids to 2. Talk about left over candy! I can’t believe on such a beautiful night, there were so few kids. I walked around with the kids in a short sleeved shirt it was so warm. Too many people getting prepared for daylight savings time I guess :)

Oops, I’m sorry, in honor of your blog and new T-Shirts let me change that.

    :) :(
